Long tailed keywords are beginning to grow in popularity in the internet marketing world. These “inexistent” keywords are now being sought out by website builders. Thanks to the revenue and traffic that they bring, more and more people are using them. For those who have just realized the possibility that these long tailed keywords have, it isn’t too late to get started. There are more than enough of these around for everyone to use. Here are some great tools that you can use to find what you need.
1. Google Adwords External Keyword Tool. All you need to do is enter the keyword you want to use for ranking and run a search. The results will turn up a list of phrases which are already being used by searchers. The list will also contain variations and synonyms for these phrases. The ideal words to start with in this list are those which have a Global Monthly Search Volume of two hundred to five hundred. Also, look for phrases that have 3 or 4 words in them.
2. Free Keyword Tool by WordStream. This works similarly to Google Adwords. All you need to have to do is enter the keyword that you want to rank and it provides you with a list. You get information on which niche the keyword falls under and relative frequency. A nice feature is that you can automatically cross out the keywords you are not going to use before sending the list to your email. Of course the free version does not allow access to all the information. You may need an update to get search volume and competition. It allows as many as 10 free searches each day with every query turning up 10,000 keywords. For those just trying to come up with a list of potential long tailed keywords this may be enough.

3. WordStream Research Suite. Again software that comes with a free version. This tool includes a niche finder, group finder and a suggestion tool. Other than being able to find the right keywords to use, this tool organizes them too. For those willing to invest in the upgraded version of WordStream Research Suite access to a distinctive long tailed keyword data base is given.
4. Google Wonder Wheel. Another of the free tools from Google that helps by showing you search results in a different format. When you run a search using the Wonder Wheel you get your search term in the center and related results surrounding it. As you click on each of the keywords you will get in depth terms that are related to it. The deeper you search you will get longer tailed keywords. While you may be capable to make a list with this it does not provide information such as search volume. You will need to get that separately through Adwords or a different tool.
5. Google Related Search. Thanks to Google, there is another totally free tool that you can use to help with your research. This is found right on the Google browser and can help you find niches that you might be missing out on. You get similar results as the Wonder Wheel since they operate in almost the same manner. However, the results that you get are more detailed and more in number. You just run a search based on the keyword you want to research on and you will get a list of short tailed and long tailed keywords to explore. Of course, the more you get into each of these results the deeper you get and the longer the keywords.
