A keyword in simple plain language is basically a word or phrase that many people use or type into search engines, to find what it is they’re looking for.
For example, If I’m looking to find great cupcakes In the Tampa area or in the New York City area, then I might do a Google search for “Cupcakes in New York City”.
Keep in mind keywords are not just one single word. We also have key phrases, which are often better than using single words, because they get more specific, meaning that the user can find exactly what they’re looking for.
For example, If you do a Google search for the word “Logo”, because you want to find a logo designer in your area, you probably won’t find what you’re looking for, because the keyword is too broad and the search engine doesn’t know exactly what you want.
On the other hand, if you type “Logo designer in New York City”, that’s much more specific, and the results you’ll get will match perfectly your needs. So the more specific your keywords are, the better results you will get.
Keywords and your business
Keywords are a very powerful thing when it comes to your business, because by knowing exactly what keywords people are looking for, you can then put your efforts into ranking higher in the search engines for those specific keywords, and that way your business will be found by your target audience. And in this case, focusing on more specific keywords can be really beneficial for your business, because you’re targeting exactly the right people that you want.
